Professor Jim McElhaney, in his latest ABA Journal article, offers a great tip for young litigators: instead of writing out the questions you want to ask a witness, write down the general answers you are looking for. This will keep you from reading your questions, allowing you to frame more natural sounding questions during your examination of the witness.
